  • When you are engaged, always take the first step in celebrating and cherishing your beautiful moment with the one. First tell the news to your closest family & friends and then go with public! As you continue, start by taking about the wedding theme overall. Discuss what sort of ceremony the two envision, who you would like to invite and your choice for a wedding date or time of year.
  • The planning should typically begin approximately 12-18 months before the wedding with a budget. Decide on a budget for your wedding expenses, including the venue or locations of the events you will be hosting at each location in addition to what portion of that event still counts as “venue,” catering (food and drinks), attire, & photography
  • After you book a date and location, the next step is booking your team of vendors. This could involve hiring a wedding planner if you wish to hire one, along with catering, photography/videography and florist services as well DJ or band. These are vendors you have to book early – namely the ones with a personal touch that you want. You should be looking for your wedding dress around this time as well.
  • Prepare Guest List – 9-12 months before the wedding. It can be difficult to do, so have some patience when you are listing all the people that matter in your life. Send out save-the-date cards after you finalize your guest list to ensure everyone had plenty of time to make arrangements on the day. At the same time, start to finalize your ceremony and reception details. That means gathering the officiant, choosing your readings and music, deciding on a theme land decor.
  • Reserve accommodations for your out-of-town guests, even transportation if needed Arrange meetings with your selected vendors to discuss contracts and finalize the vision of your wedding. It is also time to begin considering your honeymoon. Get your passports in order and book those flights/hotels!
  • Keep final fittings and make sure all is well with the vendors. Develop a comprehensive timeline for the wedding day with specific details about what will happen in which order, and everything you need to know from who needs to be where when. Share this timeline with your wedding party and vendors so that everyone is on the same page. Create your seating chart and send this to both the venue as well as caterer.
  • Do Not Have your Wedding Feel the Same way Have faith in the preparations and planning you put so much work into, and honor your love with friends + family! Post-wedding, send some love to your guests and vendors with thank-you notes thanking them for their attendance on your big day.

Now this is a long timeline, but by being detailed and organized in your wedding planning, I am confident that you can maintain sanity when planning your wedding, avoid the majority of bother (stress) leading up to it so they focus on what really matters: the journey between here and ‘I do’.”
